汉语“让”字句的翻译

 　“让”字句可以用英语使役动词let，make，allow等词翻译，翻译公司的译者可以在某些语境中也省略。
　　一、省略“让”字
　　汉译英时可以将“让”字前后视为两个部分，省略“让”字，对两个部分以适 当方式连接。
　　例1 :优美的诗词不仅可以让你了解到古代的历史和文化，还可以让你在精 神上得到一种美的享受。
　　译文：From the beautiful poems, you will not only learn about the ancient history and culture, but also derive spiritual enjoyment.

　　例2:我们应鼓励和扩大两国各界民众相互往来，让他们增进相互了解和感情。
　　译文：We need to encourage and expand interactions between various groups so that our people will understand each other better and deepen their friendship.
　　例3:要积极落实互派留学生计划，让更多青年参与到地区合作交流中来。
　　译文：We should work to implement the program of exchange students，so that more young people will join our exchanges of regional cooperation.

　　二、使用及物动词
　　“让”字句的结构与“使”字句类似，北京翻译公司的译者也可以把“让”和后面的动词结合起来， 译为英语中的及物动词，名词则作为及物动词的宾语。
　　例1:通常说来，白色让人联想到纯洁。
　　译文：Generally speaking, white is associated with purity.
　　例2: -听到丝绸之路这个名字，便会让人想到长长的骆驼商队，把丝绸等 中国高级商品运送到罗马、阿拉伯和印度。
　　译文：The name of the Silk Road will conjure up the images of long camel caravans carrying silk and other Chinese luxuries to Rome, Arabia and India.
　　例3:中美两国应努力发展让两国人民放心、让各国人民安心的新型大国 关系。
　　译文：China and the United States should build a new type of relations between major countries that is reassuring to both our two peoples and to peoples across the world.

　　此外，专业翻译公司的译者把“让”字还可以使用ensure，encourage，offer, give，bring等及物动词来翻译。
　　例1:中国出台了一系列政策，让56个民族和谐共处。
　　译文：China introduced a series of policies in order to ensure that the 56 Chinese ethnic groups live together in harmony.
　　例2:中国古典园林中有小块封闭的庭院，让人有安静独处的机会，或静思 冥想，或挥毫作画，或啜饮香茗。
　　译文：Chinese classical gardens contain small enclosed courtyard, offering calmness and solitude for meditation, painting or drinking tea.
　　例3 :我们要积极推进中加两国各界交流交往，让更多的人成为中加友好合 作的参与者。
　　译文：We should actively promote exchanges between China and Canada from all walks of life and encourage greater public participation in the course of promoting China-Canada friendship and cooperation.
